While other brands have been okay, the Denis Wick cup mute has been fantastic. I love the adjustable feature offered by this cup mute. It lets me choose the type of cup mute sound needed, ranging from an open cup to a closed cup sound. I am a returning trumpet player after taking a few years off to focus on other instruments. I was having trouble with my sound and hitting notes consistently. I bought a Wick mouthpiece as they came highly recommended on a couple forums. Man, this mouthpiece has made a world of difference on my redeveloping chops. Low notes are deep, rich, and easy to play. Higher notes are easier and consistent. Great mouthpiece that beats its Bach equivalent in every way.

Mouthpieces, like shoe size, is a very personal fit and what works for one player may not be suitable to another nor to the horn they intended to use it in. The Denis Wick trumpet practice mute is the best one I have ever used and I have used several over the years. The sound quality and intonation are great. The fit in the bell is snug and fits perfectly. Plus it’s light weight.
